Manual Machinist

Job Summary:

  • Perform milling operations such as drilling, tapping, boring, and conventional milling and lathe work, using various engine lathes (e.g., horizontal and vertical mills and horizontal boring mills)
  • Perform various welding operations, including setup and use of MIG, TIG, torch and stick welders
  • Use various hand-held and stationary power and non-power tools, including but not limited to: band saws, belt sanders, hand grinders, files, etc.
  • Record all data necessary to produce expected service and/or design results, including sizings and illustrations
  • Use measuring devices and techniques correctly to assure proper sizings
  • Balance mechanical assemblies using dynamic balance equipment
  • Perform various metalizing (metal spraying) techniques as needed
  • Any other duties as assigned by shop supervisor and/or manager




  • High school diploma
  • Trade school, vocational/technical school or on-the job machine shop training
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to understand, perform and retain various job related training and operational and safety procedures
  • Ability to work well with others in team environment





                        1st shift


                7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. – 5 days per week – Monday through Friday


                       2nd shift*


                     3:30 p.m. – 12:00 Midnight – 5 days per week – Monday through Friday


            Must be available for overtime as requested by the Repair Department

            Manager, Superintendent or Shift Foreman.
